I recently had an applicant use AI in their application for a job opening. It would have been fine except they copied and pasted the entirety of the AI’s answer without reviewing it, and accidentally overlooked the AI’s output for them, the user. So as the hiring manager, the application I received included “they’re asking you to sell your experience—try this:”. This was a red flag to me for lack of attention to detail. I’d otherwise be unbothered or enthusiastic about applicants’ AI use, but only if it’s responsible and carefully integrates human oversight
