do you want to work until 65 or longer. im almost there now and i want to work and feel grateful. so many people keep saying why don’t you retire and i don’t want to! to each his own. People should live their own lives and not focus on others. bofa allows you to work longer and so do other companies.

If you enjoy your job and want to keep working, go for it. It really matters what you want, not what others think. At my current job, I would retire as soon as I can. If I get my dream job, I'd stay forever.

I don't, but good for you if doing so makes you happy!

Everyone's journey is unique, and it's great that you're following your own path. I personally aspire to work until around 65 or maybe even a bit less, taking things one step at a time. It's all about finding that balance and doing what feels right for us individually.

I work with several people who are 60+ and I never would have known. People are young into their 80s so I think our definition of retirement is changing as is usual retirement age. I’m in my 50s and I feel like I’m just now hitting my stride. I have so much knowledge and experience and wisdom gained from doing this for so long so it’s an asset to any team. And these days I don’t have to work quite so hard, because I know what to expect, and have refined all the processes and workflow, so I think it would be sustainable to work until I was older, though not desirable. Some people feel fulfilled from work, and other people feel fulfilled by doing other things. It just depends on what makes you feel alive. Some people don’t know what to do with themselves if they are not working. And it also depends on whether you have a strong social network outside of work. If you don’t, it could feel like you would waste away without having that connection at work.

Right now (42) I’m burned out. It’s not my job, more juggling the home life and kids. I’m hoping once my kids are in college (9 years), I’ll have breathing space to relax after work hours. It’s the - going right out of work and into being a mom, that’s exhausting. If I had downtime from my job, I could manage it

My plan is 55 (I’m five years away) and out of the corporate world. I’d like to teach or take a municipal role for another 10 or so years. Kids are out of school this year, house is paid for. I want to travel more and stress less.

I don’t want to collect SS until 67 but I think I’ll retire at 65 as soon as I can get Medicare

I go back and forth on this

i think 65 is good enough

It's YOUR journey, YOUR pace, and YOUR retirement plan. If staying in the finance game fuels your fire, then go for it! Rock the gray hair (or lack thereof), embrace the wisdom of experience, and remind those retirement whisperers that there's life beyond 65.

I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home
