Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

So when I was at Accenture there was a lot of responsibility on the resource to get themselves staffed TFSs only did so much (essentially useless)
Whereas at KPMG and other big four from what I’ve been told (for better or worse) it’s really upon resource management to staff you
Especially at the analyst level
Yes. Like KMPG1 said, it's because the responsibility for analyst staffing is exclusively on the analyst vs the firm assigning you to a project. Almost nobody gets staffed through their TFS.. If you're highly motivated, specialized, or lucky it's a system that works out in your favor, because you can have way more control of where you end up. On the flip side, because the university recruiting process doesn't do a great job of matching the amt of talent we hire from various industries/backgrounds to analyst level work being sold, it's no wonder we end up with so many analysts on the bench
Can't speak from other companies perspective, but it's really on you to find the right role and drive your career through networking.
It’s a function of not specializing the analysts.. it’s an amorphous pool that then gets pushed onto projects.. would work much better if it was identified with something like an industry or offering to get traction.. then you can switch
For your first role there isn't something bad that could happen unless you are doing nothing to try and get staffed.
Don’t know enough to agree or disagree with KPMG1, but finding it very concerning that you refer to people as a resource when you are hoping that person takes an action. Resources/resourcing is obviously part of the lingo, but when trying to talk to someone 1:1, calling them a resource feels super distant. Can understand why people struggle finding projects if this is how you are viewed.
Deloitte is very network driven staffing (which I love, but is difficult first few months)
Manager 1: I agree with everything you said; when I first joined consulting out of college I hated that aspect, alas you end up being a part of it...
TFS plays with excel sheets and themselves
KPMG, I’m not innocent, definitely talk about resourcing my team, etc. however, I do think it’s dangerous to start thinking of individuals on the team as a resource rather than a person.
