Cover letters don't get read by people anymore. It's all AI scanning your resume and giving a rating now.
Recruiter here: no one reads them anymore except for a fleeting glance. Thank you note afterwards is still helpful (if written well and thoughtfully).
Cover letters can be effective if they're used well. They serve no purpose as a rehash of your resume. If they highlight things that may not be obvious from the bare bones format of a resume they can do some good. It's a chance to show some personality and communication ability, so neglecting to write one may be a lost opportunity.
Just set up OpenClaw to send a customized resume with cover letter to every open job that has some alignment with your resume.
Include having it negotiate.

Point of a cover letter is to call attention to specifics on your resume and how they apply to the job at hand. It gives you a chance prime the thinking for the reviewer. If you know who to properly write one, it can be very useful.
it matters in smaller companies and/or when the role requires top writing/comm, creativity skills. it never hurts to do it.. and try not to just send it to AI, because it's very obvious from the reader's perspective that you slacked off and used AI.
I do sometimes. The last employer I heard back from and actually had an interview, I didn’t supply a cover letter.
