If you are happy where you are at and don’t see anything much better around, then staying where you are isn’t a bad move. Long term benefits just aren’t really present anymore at most companies, salaries do not raise much unless you leave one place for the other. Some places still take good care of their employees, just not like it used to be though.
If you're content where you are and you don't feel any need to shake things up, that's fine. I suppose to a recruiter that's a problem, as they obviously make their money on people moving around. But staying with one employer probably is pretty unusual these days, it's not like in earlier generations when people could spend nearly their whole career at one company.
I hear you. Job-hopping is definitely on the rise, but I wouldn’t be so quick to think it’s the only path to career growth. It depends on what you're looking for. Maybe instead of jumping ship, think about how you can keep evolving in your current role.
I don’t see how it is a negative if you are happy there. They must like you if you have been there 15 years. It doesn’t hurt to see what is out there though. I passed on a job offer to stay where I had been for 5 years and a couple of months later got laid off so you never know. Sorry that wasn’t much help.
I too, was at my last place of employment for 15 years. I hated it especially the past five years, but it was convenient. Honestly, I never really thought beyond that toxic place. I had become a fixture. I started to doubt my ability to move forward and I got stuck. I finally mustered up enough courage, got up out of there and took a chance on myself. I didn't realize that staying at the same company for that length of time lessened my value. Fortunately, l landed a new position that I didn't even apply for, making more money and I've gained some well deserved respect. If you're content where you are, it's a no brainer. However, if you're feeling stagnant, and stuck, MOVE AROUND‼️
Good Luck
