Asking for help or confirmation is part of the job at every level. The only people who think it makes you look bad are insecure themselves. Everyone else just sees someone being thorough.
There’s a balance. Try to answer questions yourself, but don’t spin your wheels. Asking for clarification is fine if done thoughtfully. I know someone who asked a ton of questions early on, now they’re thriving because that curiosity helped them learn fast and avoid bigger mistakes.

I never hesitate to ask for help. It hurts your credibility more if you “figure it out yourself” and it’s wrong
I know that my team has people who are faster at some things than me. Honestly my only unique skill is that I have done a lot of different things so I can speak to a wide field of things but my expertise is limited
I’m more of a team player than a star player though
