I received some very good advice from a mentor of mine: there are no bad decisions. That’s maybe a little but of a stretch, but his point was that as long as you keep moving, keep trying new things, keep expanding and learning, you will continue to grow and attract more opportunities. The worst thing you can do is stagnate or burn out because you are afraid of making the wrong choice. Honestly, go with your gut! If an opportunity presents itself and sounds exciting (more exciting than what you foresee in your current position), go for it! What’s the worst that could happen? You decide you don’t like it and you leave after a year? At least you learned something! Then you can go try something else and in the meantime, you beefed up your resume! I think change is difficult and scary for most people, so don’t be too hard on yourself for second-guessing; just remind yourself that you only get to live once so do the things that excite you when you can. And try not to burn too many bridges along the way… most bosses expect younger lawyers to move around a fair bit nowadays and won’t take it personally as long as you handle the situation professionally. Good luck!
Hey I'm doing a lot better now but return to this advice repeatedly thanks
