Does anyone have a bad habit of reading pings or emails in the most negative way possible?

Any advice?

Yes - I’ve been told I over analyze and jump to conclusions on emails and pings that are benign at face value (and in hindsight- i did read too much into it). I noticed I tend to do this when I’m overwhelmed with tasks and any message conditions me to assume I’m being questioned on my status or I’m getting more work piled on top of what I already have

What worked was when I’m tired enough my brain will function at the bare minimum and will prioritize getting a response out rather than tinkering with the tone/intent/word choice in my reply

I tend to do this too. I made it a goal to not read emails or pings right away, especially when I am stressed or in a bad frame of mind/bad mood. Just taking a few minutes to breathe before you read what is popping up or coming into your inbox really makes a difference in the way you handle it and the way it comes across. Odds are the majority are not intended in a negative way, but when you are overwhelmed, you’ll take them that way and it will only pile on to your stress. Taking a step back first helps immensely- I suggest you give it an intentional try for a week or so. It really takes an effort to NOT READ immediately but hopefully will help. Best of luck to you.

Yes. All the time. I personally have found mindfulness to help. At least I recognize when I jump to conclusions and can coach myself to simply deal with what is there and not jump to conclusions.

My sibling (from India) applied for Canadian Visa for study permit (2 years) and it was rejected stating the reason "the IRCC agent was not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of their stay.
The intake was in Jan 2023.

Should we apply again? Has anyone ever experienced this and would appreciate if they can guide me? I'm really worried and emotionally tormented. Need urgent help.

I’m sure it’ll vary depending on the specific terms of the agreement and ethos of the fund, but generally / anecdotally what would cost you to lose a VESTED carry? E.g. what if you leave to a competitor even when respecting the gardening leave / non poaching etc? What if you are let go for underperformance (but haven’t breached any rules / done anything unethical etc). Or what if you’re let go simply due to eg the fund reducing headcount or your team?
