Does anyone have a good way to utilize Microsoft Teams for tracking cases?

How are you developing client relationships when in-person networking is out?

I'm used to hanging out with my clients frequently, grabbing coffee, stopping by the office, etc. Zoom/Hangouts meetings just feel really awkward and it's difficult switching from business development which was 90% IRL to nearly all online... Especially when I run a 1-person shop.

How about y'all?

Has anyone seen any unique places to find UX portfolios or post jobs other than the usual suspects?
Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.

Any of your firms do virtual gifts or corporate appreciation for your teams? We want to do something for our hard working team that is spread out over the nation but not make it an event where we’re stuck doing over zoom. Ideally something like wine delivery just to show appreciation

Zoom meetings have been fantastic. I can highly recommend my home group SOS. 7:30 daily. Great way to get grounded as you start your day.

I’m a second year associate at a small, but reputable firm. My caseload is almost entirely made up of clients who were referred to one of the partners but the partners are too busy so I end up taking the case. The clients are told up front that an associate, rather than a partner will be taking his/her case. I’ve run into an issue a couple of times where the client doubts my advice because I am only 2 years in. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I address the fact that I’m only 2 years in?

What’s a good starting salary for a newer attorney? I’ve never worked anywhere but in the public sector (even before becoming an attorney). I currently clerk for a judge and now am up to $44k as of July 1. I’m in KY. I’ve recently had a couple attorneys reach out to me about joining their practice. My client wants both parties to list assets & liabilities as an exhibit to their prenup without values, but waive the right to know the actual valuation of those in the prenup itself. My initial thought is this is a terrible idea & would probably make the prenup easily voidable since a main requirement for a prenup is for both to understand the nature and value of the other’s assets. Working on a divorce where the father is claiming that he is unemployed because of the previous administration’s actions with DACA (he was brought to the States as a child). I know that the memo rescinding DACA was ultimately vacated—but OC is unsure whether this would count as voluntary unemployment for child support purposes. I believe it does as the application period to renew DACA benefits was reopened in 2020. Thoughts?

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

I just got my client divorced from a truly horrible person who abused her and her children and she got everything she wanted and the kids are doing great and only one hasn't been successfully discharged from therapy and I'm just so proud of her and feel so lucky that I got to do a little to help her along the way

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.
