Seeing an HR Manager post this question is pretty scary. How about making the company provide adequate benefits instead of asking/guilt tripping other employees into giving up the benefits (PTO) that are rightfully theirs?
That tells me that your company and managers are making people afraid to use their time off. It is the COMPANY's responsibility to handle this. Asking other people to give up their benefits so they can be allocated to someone else is insane. What's next? Asking childless employees to roll over their 401ks to college funds for other employees' kids?
Accenture has one! It's called hours that help and you can donate any PTO you won't use to the collective balance and you can benefit from the hours of you need them and make a request
People donate when they didn't use all their hours for the year and can't roll them over
This sounds like an accounting nightmare.
