It's important to make sure to take care of yourself. Take breaks during the day when you can, even if it's just for a few minutes to take a few deep breaths or take a walk. Also, try to maintain a positive attitude. It can be difficult, but it can also make a difference in how you handle the situation. Lastly, it's important to speak up and ask for help if you need it.
This sounds like the life of a vet unfortunately. I know some clinics are better but this has largely been my experience. Do you have vet tech friends at other clinics? I might start reaching out and finding if any of your local clinics have better work/life balance and see if you can start angling towards a job somewhere else.
Set boundaries. Outside of work hours don't answer any emails or calls. Find something that brings you joy outside of work and spend time on that
I have experienced the same thing. When completely overwhelmed, I’ve been very blunt and honest with the front staff. Continuing to let patients in is taking care away from those who are already in our care. We don’t have enough hands and things are going to die. I’ve literally said this to the front before. If management is going to reprimand them, I would take it up with management too. I’m in a long fight against our management currently for the same thing.
