What is the tipping etiquette on the free platinum breakfast in a JW Marriott? The server just gets coffee / orange juice and you serve yourself. It is an overpriced buffet that I would never dine in.

We flew back from Ireland today on Delta. Our connecting flight from JFK at 6:10 was cancelled while we were flying over the Atlantic Ocean, and we were rebooked on a 3:40 instead (2.5 hours earlier) but not notified. I received no email, text or app notification of the flight cancellation or the new flight we were placed on, so we missed it. They now cannot get us home tonight and won’t even guarantee they can get us home tomorrow, impacting my work, (cont)…

Why not cancel federal taxes on unemployment compensation? Aren’t a lot of stimmy checks just going to be returned back to the government to pay this tax?

Thoughts on long-term (5-30 years) fate of the market for consulting in London? How many billable hours do people in prosecution tend to average each month? I’ve gone through waves of feeling like my billable hours requirement is reasonable to feeling like I’m drowning and can’t possibly do it for that long.

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

As a Jersey person working in NY, my goal was always to eventually find a job at a Jersey agency to stop the commute. Well, now I get to work in the city from my house. Do you think this will have an effect of Jersey agencies being able to get city agency folks?

Not sure if this is the place to share this but i hit a pole a few months ago and there was no damage to the pole just my car. it was covid and i was in the process of moving/ the car was mostly fine so i didn’t file a claim. Now i find out it will cost 3k + out of pocket to fix. do i report it to the insurance company or is it too late?
