Does anyone pass the merchant/credit card fees to their clients when the client pays online?

We do. We prefer payment by wire or check, but we allow payment by cc with a surcharge to cover.

like

We do and call it a convenience charge.

A few states do not allow you to pass along the fees to customers. Like one of the commenters above, I treat it as a cost of doing business.

like

Same as above

Thank you, does the merchant pass it automatically? Or do you calculate the estimated fees and add it to their bill?

Our website instructions say that if paying online, add X% to the invoice amount. Otherwise it sits as an open balance that we need to bug the client about.

Always

I consider it a cost of doing business. Frankly it is just as convenient for me to get paid immediately than wait for a check and have to take it to the bank.

I work for the government agency that enforces the no CC surcharge statute in my state. I've actually had the attorney ethics commission ask me if attorneys can charge a surcharge. Funny thing is, because the legisture put the law in a consumer finance act, it only is illegal to charge a surcharge to a consumer. Based on the ethics commission's questions, I believe the attorney complaint was dropped due to that.

How do real estate lenders take cash flow into consideration? For example, typically I would probably only be approved for a $500k loan ($125k comp and $100k for down payment), but if I’m buying a multi-family home and planning to live in a unit and rent the others, will lenders approve a bigger loan?

My wife and I are moving to Boston from overseas (we’re from Italy and we’ve recently won the diversity visa green card lottery).

We are looking to rent a 1BR starting in January, ideally for ~$3k/month. I’ll be working in the downtown area.

Do you recommend we go for a serviced/luxury apartment (e.g. Montaje, 345 Harrison, etc.) or hire a broker to get a “normal” apartment?

Any managed buildings recommendations within our budget? Also, what are some good brokers we could work with?

Thanks!

We are looking to move to Dallas and thinking of buying a house ~996K with a 15% down. Questions -
1. Should we go for house of that budget? We can afford, but asking based on market.
2. Should we down 15% or just 5% ? Or go for 20% ?

Well yes. Crypto is taxed like stocks & other types of property. When you sell for a profit, you are required to pay tax on the gains. It’s called capital gains tax.

Anyone jumped from B4 to another B4? Where did you go? What was your reasoning? Any regrets? How did the original B4 react?

Round or exact numbers on banners/LPs? I was curious about this since in negotiations for example or pricing it's better to have the exact number. But if you have a case study, for example, is it better to say "Client X increased their revenue to 1,000,000 ARR" instead of "Client X increased their revenue to 987,500 ARR" ? Anyone has seen any impact on conversion rates?

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. He scolds me over every little thing, how I load the dishwasher, maybe I didn’t push my chair in. Last week he told me I needed to work on my appearance. I was shocked. I bought all new clothes from Ann Taylor that are perfectly acceptable for business casual. He hates me. Move on ASAP or try to stick it out ?

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. Has anyone done this right out of law school? Any advice?

We are a firm of 5 transactional attorneys and the bonus structure is very unclear. The usual “based on personal performance and firm profitability” language. I wonder how this is calculated in general. What is the percentage bracket of the bonus? Assume it is a high performance 9+ year attorney and the firm is profitable (even with COVID). The based salary is low $120k. Firm is in Tx. I’d love to hear your comments.
