Does every firm end the year with endless amounts of “Holiday Philosophy “ emails from senior leadership, or is it just Deloitte?

I love the practice leader messages — “Just took a couple of minutes out from my Ironman training to recap 2019 personal highlights. Catching that late flight out of JFK to watch my son Hamilton make the Chelsea development team was a real stressor!”

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. When is it either allowed or seen as OK to start using FTO? I recently started here and while I’m not looking to slack off and take time off, I just want to know how it works. Hi,

Any reviews for Swiss Re as a company? I'm close to getting an offer and want to particularly know about the following:
1. Non-monetary benefits (life, accident and medical insurance details, any other benefits)
2. Paid time off (leave) policy
3. General culture (including WFH support)
4. Work life balance
5. Typical increment and bonus levels (VP level preferably)

How do you deal with the following - 1) lack of general organization in life, note taking, keeping track of your relationships and 2) attention to detail. These 2 things have been bothering me a lot. We all are smart as hell but silly mistakes such as spelling mistakes, broader checks to be done on the deck is killing me. Also I feel the lack of organization in personal life blows into professional as well. If you are a consultant how do u deal with it ?

How do you engage your students in more reading outside of what is required in the classroom? With each passing year I am finding an ever shrinking population of students, including honors students, who actually read beyond what is posted in social media or video games. Students willingly volunteer that they do not read and most parents see it as a non-issue. I tell my students that the best readers are usually the best writers. What are some strategies that you use beyond reading logs ?
