Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

I feel that, but if you routinely request those sort of things, they’re probably used to it and aren’t bothered as much as you think. Truly depends on the person, but in meetings, I like to introduce myself and get to know them (or catch up if it’s someone you’ve already met) before diving into work to make the vibe more positive. That way I kind of have an inside connection with another team and it’s less “worky” when I reach out for a task.
I get the same vibe in industry. People are overworked, and leadership is poor.
lol. Once during a screen share the person walked away for a min and for whatever reason changed the window that was being shared…. I was left looking at an email where they were discussing PYs team and how much they disliked them. I didn’t take it personally since I wasn’t on the team PY and I definitely made a conscious effort to be more friendly.
Idk - I hold speciality groups in high regard. If ITS or SALT tell me to do it; then I do it without complaints. I may ask “why” just to learn from the experience for next time.
People can hate what they need to do but if it’s their job responsibility, I do not see why you would feel uncomfortable. It is for them to figure out if they are in the right place.
