Making himself at home in my home office!

The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

I’m just mad I don’t have a cool couch, okay?
As long as it doesn’t look like this you’re fine
My background is my bed
Having an actual bed in the background is the one thing I’ve heard criticized a few times. I don’t care personally and I think it’s a d1ck move for someone making $500k+ to give someone making much less sh1t about how to organize their space but bed-haters are out there.
Also, I’ve read (and believe) having your workspace (which you may associate with stress/anxiety) in the place you try to sleep is not a good idea.
If you can, make your bedroom a place for sleep (and maybe reading/sex/morning coffee) and not work.
If you can’t do that, be aware there are people out there who think you should and try to keep the bed out of the frame.

As long as it doesn't look like the set of casting couch
It’s fine, as long as you don’t have dirty dishes or drug paraphernalia in the background no one cares
I’ve got a couch in camera view in my home office. I’ve never had a comment about it.
Why would this look bad? Sounds comfy
My mentor has alcohol bottles in his background. You’ll be fine
On the contrary - sounds really nice actually
Probably looks better than the sideboard of liquor I routinely sit in front of 🥂
What kind of ridiculous question is this

Sounds like it could be a conversation starter! I always have people compliment me on my office because I have a giant piece of artwork and a chest with photos/flowers behind me.
Keeps it a bit interesting compared to the blank walls most have.

Confidence, my friend. You’ll get there…
I have my full bar cart/wine racks, back of couch, tv, dog bed all visible. I don’t have a dedicated office; my desk is in my living room and my webcam can see that whole space. People usually just ask to see my dog, compliment my wine collection, or mostly say nothing at all. It’s fine, it’s YOUR house.
