No it doesn’t. I read an article on Fidelity about doing it. I’m sure many other places can do it too.
Thanks all

It is extremely simple to do - you really don’t need help from a professional!
Where do you house your IRAs? I bet your provider will have a walkthrough webpage.

I did it without an advisor.
It took a few hours of research and making the accounts and fiddling around in the first year, and then just a few minutes of clicking a few buttons every year after that.
I have IRAs at Charles Schwab and 401k with Fidelity with in service roll overs. Just call either house (whatever services you use) and they’ll be happy to walk you through. Especially the brokerage that houses your IRA as they are getting the money. Fidelity 401k has been a bit of a pain for me. I have to call 5 times before I get the rep that knows how to send me the checks. The checks must be deposited ASAP to the other accounts otherwise penalties apply. 60 days when I last checked.
No, but I'd say it warrants watching a YouTube video! It's super straight forward :) just make sure that when you do it you don't have any funds in existing traditional IRAs
I found this article to be very helpful- https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/backdoor-roth-ira-tutorial/
