Wise ones, need advice. I’m an industry hire, new to consulting. Started in Dec as SM,finished my only project in March. Benched since and volunteering to help on proposals & practice building but feels weird to be benched for this long. I only learnt about utilization rates for CRTs recently. New to this model of networking to get staffed. Was a high performer in my industry and had my fingers in many pies. Not sure what being benched for this long means for my career. All advice welcome. New to ACN, M level, was staffed briefly on a short term project (4 weeks) then got pulled from that project to work on a different one but that only lasted 6 weeks. Utilization is low less than 35% so I’m concerned and don’t have a solid plan for turning things around. As an experienced hire it seems like a battle to establish yourself and find consistent work and develop your network. Did some BD work but was never provided to it w a chargeable code. Any suggestions on turning things around?

I am getting married in Decemeber and am on H1B. I wanted to work from India for a couple if weeks to reach my utilization target since its my promo year. Are we allowed to do that? If yes, what is the process? Otherwise i will have to take pto for a month.

Does EY show the pay scales whenever people get raise? For example - show the high and low range? Or, do they explain how much things are weighed when it comes to making a decision about pay (example: utilization rate is 50% in determining how high your next raise is). I heard PwC does that and it seems to be a lot more transparent.

Need some thoughts: Sr3 -Office transfer approved and starts in Sept but I haven’t got any work assign from the new office. I’m taking 4 weeks off before June 30 when my rolled vacay expires. 1. if EY will cut ppl out after June will I be on the list since no one knows me/my work ethics, no assignment at the new office and my utilization will be low after vacay. 2. Should I even consider looking to buy/rent in new city since most client will WFH til at least end of this year through next year?

I don't think my utilization was adjusted while I was on leave. I see it read as adjusted to 85% with1768 hours instead of 87% with 1855 hours on rpm. Anyone know where I can start to get this looked into? I haven't even used all my PTO and will lose over 3 weeks because it's messing up my utilization. Advice?

All of the suggestions on how to maintain WLB fall to individuals - but ultimately if the firm keeps selling as much work as we’re selling, we can’t deliver if lots of folks reduce hours. Seems like a supply/demand mismatch. How can we empower our teams to prioritize WLB and also get all the work done, when utilization is still so high?
