Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

You can be micromanaged in any role. I would say the bigger issue is that you are setting boundaries for yourself while working remotely. It can be harder to turn it off when you aren’t leaving work physically at the end of the day,
Depends on the company. I did it for years and my work didn't care as long as I got the job done. I had no micromanaging or anything like that
The micromanagement can depend on the organization, and perhaps the timing. When I was working remotely it was when just about everyone was, and I wasn't micromanaged in the least. It was up to me to keep myself engaged, and that could be a challenge, to be honest. I've heard that some organizations now really monitor remote workers, which must be a difficult way to operate. I'd rather just be in the office than deal with that.
