McKinsey & Company Don’t want to get my hopes up since it’s just a phone screen request, but I got an email to meet with a McKinsey & Company recruiter.

What is the average yearly hike given in PWC?
Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

Journey to offer is just that. A journey. Take it one gate at a time. Case very hard using interviewer led cases and an honest partner. However hard you case, practice your PEI twice as hard. Good luck!

It depends. Mine was long. From phone screen to offer was 4 months but you have some control over that depending on when you choose to schedule evaluative case and first/second rounds. My understanding is things are accelerating a bit because we need people fast.

Our "behavioral interviews" are called personal experience interviews, and are a little different from other companies in that you focus on one particular situation for the entirety of the behavioral portion and are asked multiple questions on that one situation. So choose experiences that are well-rounded.
Our case interviews are interviewer led, so there is a fixed direction in which the case is supposed to go. They're not particularly tough but look out for hints from the interviewer in case you may be veering off the intended direction
Mckinsey is overrated. Join bain
Hahaha if you wanna get them to reach out to me about my pending application, be my guest 😂
We spell out the interview process (both case and PEI, our version of behavioral) and exactly what we're looking for on our website - read it thoroughly and prepare accordingly. I actually found the McK interview process much easier than that of any other firm because it's such a standardized process with little room for interviewers to deviate. Good luck!
Super helpful - thanks so much! (hopefully future coworker 😛)
The recruiter will also be super transparent and help walk you through the process and what to expect at each step
This is good to know. Especially since recruiters from other companies tend to go radio silent after awhile
McK cases tend to like having some algebraic math and have you set up formulas and solve. Take your time to get the math right
Pro
Of course not, but the ability to structure “business math” problems and do basic computations on the fly is absolutely the bar you have to meet. Practice case math a lot of this is a weak point. Try rocketblocks for math drills.

Best of luck!!
McK 2, if everyone at the firm is anything like you and the rest of the McK folks that have provided great feedback on my post, I would truly love the opportunity to be able to call it my new place of work. You all have been so kind 🙏
One thing to keep in mind is that the interviewers and recruiters genuinely want you to succeed and will give you feedback after each stage. Make sure to take those into account as you continue to progress forward. Good luck!
Thanks so much McK 8! I may take you up on your offer if I make it past the recruiter screen next week!
SA I have a curiosity. How did it work out?
Did they just reach you like with a normal email randomly or did you do something specific before to connect?
I applied back in Feb/March and got the typical “thanks for applying but you don’t match what we’re looking for atm” email.
Thought I’d apply again for the hell of it last week and got the recruiter email today. Tbh the email format wasn’t as “formal” as I thought it would be for McK that I actually thought it was spam at first til I checked the sender’s email haha
Are you based in Australia? I’m in the same boat! :D
Congratulations! I’m in the U.S. 🙂
Update: I met with the recruiter and it went well. But now the ball is in my court as to whether or not I want to prepare and continue with the rest of the process.
If I’m being honest with myself, I already feel like I’ve lost before I even began.
This is true. All my life I’ve always avoided things that I won’t be good at on the first try. Part of my high functioning anxiety 😅 but definitely will enroll in the prep seminars and see how far in the journey I can go
