Earlier this year, my director announced they’re going to another department and I got a new director. Today, HR booked a call with me to understand what my role and responsibilities are. I asked why and they said they’re just curious. I’m getting nervous. Would this be for a lay off? Or is HR sometimes updating their files?

They aren’t “just curious”
It’s weird it’s HR and not your new Director
Do you have a job description for your current role?

Possible things happening: layoffs, job grade changes, salary adjustments.

Be careful what you say - HR is not your friend.
Don’t talk about your old boss, your new boss, coworkers, etc
Don’t complain - even if they ask what you like/don’t like about your job.

I’d add “potential reassignment” to the list of possible reasons. The new boss may be bringing in their own team and HR is trying to figure out where the old team will be going.

One hopes HR would know what your role is since they are responsible for job descriptions and matching pay to contribution.

Hi All. What is the best way to allocate 25 Lakh INR in savings into different investments to maximize returns. I recently moved out of India so Tax rebate is not a consideration for me. I already have 6 lakh plus invested in PF and MFs but I want to invest more as my money is getting depreciated in the savings bank account.

I also have an education loan with balance of 7 lakhs which I am planning to repay in lumpsum as there is no tax exemption now.

I’m currently interviewing with a few top 10 firms and a couple top 100 firms for a mostly remote experienced associate/new senior role. Does anyone have any tips on virtual interviews and how to gauge the culture of the firm and if it really will be a good fit for you? I’m struggling to figure out that out because I used to gauge it on the feeling I got while in their office during interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful :)

Hi All,
I need your immediate help for Barclays, i am in the middle of the interview process for Barclays Pune/Mumbai, I have heard that they do check Credit Report for all roles as a part of their Pre employment screening (May be stage 1).
Is that correct?
Can someone please check their Background screening report and confirm?
I think they use Hireright as their 3rd part agency but not sure.
i would really appreciate your help.

Hi, I was curious if anyone had any jobs or companies that had a position with a mix of consulting/healthcare/pharmaceutical. Amex folks,
Do you use your amex laptop for your personal work? Accessing gmail, social media, OTT platforms, etc.

I miss music. Like actual bands with instruments and vocal ability. Feels like the music industry is so hollowed out that multi-member instrumental bands like Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and even Metallica are no longer able to take root.

There are a few talented individual singers (Adele) a lot of awful mumble rappers, but no actual bands that will stand the test of time. Before I get called a Boomer, the problems with the music industry for new artists are well documented.

Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?
