Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

Use a top B school as a springboard! Don't think Acn on your CV will get you any traction- don't mean to discourage or belittle you - I worked there and tried, didn't get anywhere! There is enough competition from the likes of GS M&A and MBBs willing to trample over their grandmothers for those roles. Why should they choose you over them?! Unless you know someone of course.
Manager1, what if OP tracked the top 30-40 regional funds in his particular area and reached out to Partners/VPs for a brief coffee chat and was able to share his/her experiences and value add in person...or even offered to intern for free for a month or two. Wouldn't that be more effective than going back to b school?
Not to sound cocky but not all consultants are created equal. The creme of Accenture or Deloitte should be able to give the average MBBer a run for their money (especially if the experiences and projects were similar)
On your other note, I would even go further to say the average BiG 4 consultant CAN give an average MBBer a run for their money. But that's not how the VC recruiters see it . I know of someone from a top engineering school and a member of the Mensa- she quit school to become a stripper! Knowing her, she'll give most MBBers and barristers a run for their money, but would you give her a chance at Deloitte Digital? Life is unfair!
On coffee chats, I tried something similar- let's see how many replies you get? Defo worth a try! They say persistence pays!
No harm in persisting, but gotta put your limited resources to best use!
And you didn't sound half as cocky as me! This is a forum for open and honest discussion, and I'll be happy to stand corrected!
M1, say you manage to get in through a contact. How would you gain the respect of your other colleagues at the fund and start up founders, given that the individual is coming from a non-pedigreed background?
I don't know, I haven't been in one! I suppose once you get in, the background won't matter as much. Got to keep performing at or above par though
