Hi Infosys guys, I have cleared one technical interview and got email for further round which is planned for tomorrow. Email mentions that this is a telephonic interview, is this supposed to be an HR round discussing salary or another tech round.

Said I was laid off due to lost business
Not a good fit.
I feel like that is illegal.
Never use the word fired or terminated. Say parted ways or I left after X months. No need to give them information they might not have. Use cultural fit as a reason you left ( or something just as vague) then segue into asking them about their company. Unless it was something legally actionable your last employer probably won't mention it. No need to over share.
“They re-org’d.” Happens everywhere, all the time.
Yup, this is a great one. My last company went through a consolidation following a merger
I had a mid-level job last 1 month (fired for not getting a single idea past the CD in that time) and another that lasted 5 months (fired for insubordination). Guess which one I simply never mention? Hint: Obviously I never put either of those on my resume.
What counts as insubordination ?
“They hated me and i hated them”- that’s priceless:)
I just got let go it was THE WORST FIT EVERRRRRRR. I’ll be brief but it was the worst, most unclear job description and the boss 😳 no comment
just say you freelanced there.
For the Vets “ I’ve been in the biz so long they’re all dead.. so what’s your PTO policy like? “ that’ll start a new conversation
Personal reasons
It’s a small world in this industry. People ask about others on the down low. Depending on how long you were there would determine your response. If you were there a few months just say it was freelance. If it was a year or more if you say it wasn’t a good fit be prepared to elaborate if they ask for more details of which should never be bad mouthing anyone.
I’ve said it was a terrible fit, from shop A to B. They hated me and I hated them. ??? We spent a day interviewing each other - how does that happen? They moved me from one coast to the other, so I stayed a year. We were all relieved when I could leave.
“The client moved the work in house” don’t know about the rest of you but this has happened a few times... I kind of let them do the calculation on why I’m applying for a new role.
Dépends on what’s going to happen if the new shop checks with the old one. If the old on is HR savvy, they’ll know to keep it limited to « cannot comment or recommend. ». If they aren’t and say « here’s why... » different issue (old shop, at least in CA at some legal risk for that). Your best bet is to say as little as possible—and limit to stuff like fit, personalities.
"Contract ended". I rarely get asked for references, and when I do I give them people I got along with at work (who were senior and I worked with) so I still get a good reference.
Just said you needed a fresh start or something. Don’t lie but don’t tell the truth
Loss of business is the easiest, realistic, and one of the least-questionable answers to give
