Everyone working in SEO: what do you do day to day? I am looking at moving SEO in-house instead of the company we have now, but I don’t know where to start. Tips?

Depends on what level of SEO effort currently being done by the company now and what your goals are, as well as the level of the SEO person and their area of expertise. Sometimes it’s good to have an SEO lead but break up content and technical areas under that person to have focused areas of expertise. Sometimes it’s good to have folks do both and break it into categories of focus based on the site. Other questions are if e-commerce is involved and off-site SEO and how collaborative will the role be with Paid?

But in general a day coule be doing anything from keyword research, a technical audit of a site or issue, explaining what search is to someone on another team, put a buy-in presentation together, write YouTube content, create a content strategy, implement or create redirects, etc.

There are a variety of tasks and it can change from day-to-day. Why do you ask? Are you trying to write a job description? What is your current service doing for you? What does success look like for you? SEO is a strategis long game and is most successful when integrated with marketing strategy.

Have a segregated approach - Content, Tech & Outreach. Set goals - Monthly & Ideate on how else to optimize the website. Implement atleast 1 idea in 1-2 months.

Have a biweekly meeting to discuss goals ,& ideas.
Be ready for ups and downs controlled by Google.

Analytics is very important have discussions on how it's getting impacted.
