USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

Leave as soon as possible. Use LinkedIn and talk to recruiters/headhunters.
You could also try posting in the job referral bowl. You may be able to get some bites in there.
No one to delegate to?
It’s an interesting industry but it’s kind of soul-sucking.

Come to federal advisory, I do like 5 hours of real work a week. I'm a senior though, idk what my manager is doing, but it's not too much more than what I'm doing

The only hard requirement is being a US citizen because you'll more than likely need to get a security clearance. There's some civilian agencies that we or EY or Deloitte service, but the big money is coming from defense or intel agencies.
Any accounting background is acceptable here. Many ppl come from audit; not many came from tax but there's some. We also have IT teams and data analytics teams supporting the same client, in case you have a more varied background you want to flex.
Day to day varies based on team. I'm currently on an audit readiness team, we mostly just review the client's attempts to correct deficiencies that the auditors identified. We're the last review before it gets sent to the auditors so we're trying to identify anything the auditors will fuss about before they fuss about it. It's chill though, you just look at SOPs and PCMs, and then whatever output from their TOD and TOE. You don't do any of that work, you're only reviewing it to make sure it's bullet proof.
Previously I was on a risk management team. Same client agency but different client team. They identify risks and we'd catalog the entire organization's risks, and then they'd decide whether to accept the risk or whether to start taking action to address the risk before the auditors notice these risks. On this team, I /was/ doing control testing, TOD and TOE.
I'm a recent promoted S1 in DC with 110 base. I think it varies by team, but my last 2 teams have been 100% remote with no known expectation looking to rto for the current team. I know some people go to the kpmg office just to meet co-workers but it's not expected, and I know of other teams who are doing one day a week at the client site. So it's luck of the draw really, but I think there's a good chance you'll be fully remote, since OPM and most of the fed govt is also moving that way
I recommend fp&a. Your accounting background will help you but imo it's much more interesting work than accounting. I am also a CPA and was told when I was hired that they love hiring cpas into fp&a (could just be personal experience). I prioritized finding a job with a company with lots of good wlb reviews, so at the end of the day I feel like my work is super manageable and personal development is a priority.
I did have some recruiters (found via LinkedIn) discourage me from pursuing fp&a because "it can be hard to get into" but I honestly think they just wanted to discourage me from any options that they didn't have available to recruit me for.
Yep!
