Exit opportunities for a well rounded IP associate 6 years in? Have patent, copyright, TM experience, prosecution and litigation, pretty much touched on all aspects of IP. I see the occasional in-house position that might fit, but it usually demands 10+ years. Any other alternative fields/exit opps that my experience might be valuable for?

Facebook has positions that fit this. I’d assume the other FAANGs as well.

like

Yea I could never work for FB.

Have you tried applying for the positions that seem like a good fit other than the stated experience requirement? I'm not at all an expert on this, but I would find it surprising if that 10+ years of experience is a real requirement at most places...

like

Following.

Sounds like your experience is in litigation. Are you trying to apply for transactional or lit positions?

If you're being overlooked I'd work on creating two versions of your resume, one that focuses on your transactional experience to use for those positions, and one for lit. While broad experience is useful in practice, it's better to pitch yourself as one or the other to start.

You can private message me. My company has an ip opening.

Which market? Looking for lit, pros, or tech trans?

You interested in patent litigation?

My husband is always looking for skilled patent litigators. I am a defense attorney but he does plaintiffs work. Dm if you’d like,

Go for the consumer goods companies. Coca Cola, Nike etc

A wonderful friend recommended me to a recruiter, when the recruiter was looking to place a creative.
This role is at a small agency, I’m going to be paired with a Sr. Copywriter. They’re looking for a conceptual thinker and brilliant designer, no pressure.
I have some internships and some freelance under my belt since graduating portfolio school, and a current laptop that’s running on fumes ha.
I’m intimidated, cautious, yet super grateful to finally hear from someone.
Any words of wisdom?

Would anyone from ZS have some time for a chat? Saw a job posting that is perfectly aligned with my experience and would love to learn more about the firm, and perhaps get a referral. Thank you in advance!

I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?

My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at
Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.

L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

Venting a bit: Are you finding DEI groups at work overrun with allies. Is there also an increase in celebrating said allies? Is it just me?

Most of the groups I'm in (esp. event teams) are being taken over by allies wanting to do what they think should be done to 'celebrate' whatever topic the month is, usually speaking over marginalized coworkers and rarely consulting with them. It seems like the only time this doesn't happen is for gay (usually yt) men or BHM. I'm just feeling so...minimized.
