Expecting my first kiddo in a few weeks and am trying to figure out how much time I can take off. I get 8 weeks from Acn, plus 4 from Ny state, I also have 8 weeks of pto since I havent really taken time during Covid. Is taking 4 months off too much?
I am expecting a promo to Senior this year and am worried it could affect my promo or people’s perception of me. Anyone have experience taking a similar leave and how was coming back to work?

I’ve been there. Take it all. You’ll never get this time back and in the grand scheme of things, you’ll get promoted even if it’s delayed a year. Most people are supportive. The ones that aren’t are the ones that don’t have kids and think you’re milking it but it takes a lot to raise a little one as you’ll both be sleep deprived and your wife will also be recovering. I think as long as you have a replacement on your engagements or do knowledge transfers you’ll be fine.

Congrats!

Prob ok to take time off but make sure you go out and get wasted with your buddies one last time before the baby is born.

I’m at D and took 26 weeks off, literally splitting the performance year in half, and I am up for Senior Manager. I had to be proactive in managing those conversations, hit every single person I talked to was supportive of taking the time and it didn’t impact my performance year ratings or decision. Take the time

I would keep some PTO in reserve for the holidays and unexpected needs

I have a Q that I worry is going to make me sound like a jerk, but want some opinions. I do strength training 2x/wk with a trainer who was assigned to me at a gym where I bought a pack of sessions. I don’t really consider myself “his” client bc the relationship is managed by the gym… but lately he keeps saying like “I can’t wait to see what my clients give me for Christmas” and I find it super awkward. I pay $150 per session for these workouts (cont’d in comments)…

In the process of interviewing for a strategy/Corp dev position at an activewear/athleisure company and they want me to think of a couple tangential industries that may have companies for acquisition and do a write up. I’m stumped on what else an activewear company would buy besides other activewear companies. I can only think of home fitness (Lulu’s Mirror) or vitamins/supplements. Any thoughts?

Mental Health, inherited or choice? I am finding myself struggling with processing that ADD, Depression, or Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain vs. behavioral therapy. The best analogy given to me is you would treat diabetics with insulin so why not consider prescriptions to help mental health. 2020 has thrown more at me than I’m able to handle. Has anyone here noticed a significant improvement after a prescription to help psych issues?
