Sick of work days

like

What you really need to know is that we have 1 day off for xmas and 1 day for New Years. So if you’re at pwc or Kmpg now, you won’t like it

like

They can be used for preventative care appointments as well and for sick/preventative care for family members. So overall they are much more useful than just plain sick days. Previously we had unlimited sick days, but they could only be used if you were sick. We are now limited to 10 days a year but the usage is much broader and allows you to take care of sick family and even service animals

like

Wait seriously? I thought all 4 had gone to closed for the holidays as standard practice?

like

@kpmg1 Nope

like

They are sick days

Do you need to provide a reason when using them?

I use them whenever I have an appointment or if I need to take my kids to an appointment. You can use them for actual sick days or anything else that falls under that category. No explanation necessary.

I think it depends on how strict your immediate team is. My team is pretty nice about these sorts of things so most people get away with using these as personal days when they go home for the holidays or vacation, since It can technically be used to take care of family, etc... Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Looking to get out of public accounting and applied for a Staff Accountant position. The company is known for having a great culture and I’m thinking the schedule will be much better. I’m thinking the compensation will be similar in the new position as what I’m making now so I wouldn’t be getting the normal jump in pay people expect when leaving public accounting. If I were to be offered the position, should I take it? Should I expect a better position if I’m looking for an accounting type role?

So I quit my job and accepted a new consulting position that starts 4/6. During that time I got an offer for another job in the govt. and also found out im pregnant (an unexpected surprise 😅). The job I accepted only offers 8 weeks of maternity leave and the new offer provides 12 weeks. It also just seems like a better wlb. Is there anything like legally that keeps me from retracting my acceptance of the first offer? Any tips on how to go about it as gracefully as possible? Thanks!

Hello guys,

Please help.

Recently, a month back I made a switch to a product based company/startup. For a month, I was getting to know their one of the product having tech stack as Java & Aws. Now after a month, I am being put in a new product completely based on golang & temporal.

My total exp is 3.8 years, since I have already spent 3.8 of my life in Java stack, would that be good for me if I make a switch to some other language or tech stack? I see, there are very few position for go.

I just got offered a long term freelance gig with some former colleagues and know the work and the colleagues will be awesome.
