Not worth the move for a 3k raise.
I wouldn’t change for $3k unless it was work I really wanted to do
It’s a Big4 experience
Real state tax
Is $108 a good salary for Tax Manager? How much more can he push for?
What company and what location?
EY- NYC
Sounds right... it’s all shit.
Yeah Tax gets paid significantly lower. Tax seniors start off with around 70. So for manager that sounds right.
Yea. I have a few friends on the audit and tax side. I would say this accurate.
I think he might be able to negotiate a bit more. Very generically, if audit makes X, tax makes 1.1X, and consulting makes 1.2x+. I know a brand new audit manager in dallas was 87k a handful of years ago. That's for internal who have never been able to get the bump for moving around. 104k for manager experienced hire in NYC seems a little low but not massively - should probably at least negotiate for something like 110k. Probably also depends on if he views himself as a new manager or experienced manager.
Sounds about right for tax or audit, I know plenty of assurance mgrs making less than 100k
Tax or international tax?
I’ve been told that international tax people are paid more so maybe that’s why the expectation was higher?
