This. Collaborate with them but at the end of the day it falls on your shoulders.

I still treat my team as my peer. They work with me, not work for me.

Agree - but there is a very fine line with too much of a peer to the point you’re not directing/managing. There is something of a combination, especially if you’re managing people older or more experienced than you.
Treat them as a peer to an extent. Don't go in with an "I'm the boss" mentality cus that can make the workplace hard on everyone. Most of the time you're going to be working with them or delegating tasks to them as opposed to managing every aspect of their workplace lives.
Just be upfront with what expectations you have from them and once you're both on the same page, hold them accountable to it otherwise you'll end up being a pushover.
Think about what you’ve liked and not liked about your work stream leads. Emulate what you appreciated - and avoid what you didn’t.
I had team of senior reporting to me, coz I was the SME. At the end of the day, they used to send me all the reports, but always, there was a clash and conflict of ego and seniority.
Taught me so much on how to deal in such situation.
I would advice to get them along as colleagues, pull them together for target, not push them for target. If anything goes south, take full responsibility. Show them that you are not the boss, but someone there for the same goal as them.
Most important: ask their advice very often and try to walk in their shoes.
You are colleagues. Your job is to make sure they have everything they need to do their job and meet their deadlines. Be a servant leader.
