I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Get up early before kids wake up and stay up later when they sleep. One summer we were at beach for a week. By the time they woke up I had put in a few hours of work and able to spend time with them. Make breakfast together, waffles whatever. Make it a point to join them for lunch at school. Make a summer bucket list, movies, zoo, park or ice cream. Get those silly shirts at Target and take that picture at a pumpkin patch. Kids are older but they cherish those times. Enjoy them while you can. Remember you have 18 summers with them.
Block off all their events as soon as you know about them and work around family time.
I have 3 young extremely active boys and I do not miss any of their sports, school events etc. All practices, games, events go on my calendar. And never schedule anything in those times. We each own our calendar. This business is not that hard and if you are efficient can be done in less than 40 hours a week. I usually get to the office around 930 and generally home no later than 4. At work, I work, not there to socialize. I see posts on here all the time, about working 7 days a week....they are doing it wrong. I tend to answer emails, and do prep work a few nights a week between 930 and 11 after they are asleep. I workout most days before the boys and wife are awake. By most measures I have a successful business. It’s me and an assistant. The measure that’s most important to me is raising my boys. I was blessed with a great role model in my Dad.
Start and stop times. I go to work early and come home by 530. Clients can wait - always return calls same day except for after hours. Money is not my God and family time supersedes any and all distractions. Thank God for independence. I run the show, no one else.
Family first
Family always comes first. I have three kids, 13,12 and 10. They won’t be kids forever so i make sure i don’t miss anything My work schedule fits around my family schedule. Learn to become efficient. Work while at work, no distractions and be home when you’re at home.
Get organized and avoid “busy” time. I’m always amazed at people’s priorities and where the kids rank. We are in an great business that should allow you flexibility in your schedule— if you don’t love, mentor and prioritize time for your kids, someone else or something else will. AND TOU CANT WAIT TIL THEY ARE IN SCHOOL TO GET TO KNOW THEM!!!
Commit to being home- pick a couple of nights you will work late if needed. Make eating dinner and reading bedtime stories essential. Be present when you are home- cell phone away, don't look at Bill's till they are in bed. Sometimes- have ice cream for dinner. Make sure you keep "dating" their mom. The example you set for how you treat their mom is how they will expect to be treated by men. Signed a Father of 3 (9b, 5g, 2b) who is preaching to himself right now.
I sacrifice money for memories. They will last longer and be more beneficial to my young daughter
