Not a chance. I’ve been platinum for years and have never sniffed an upgrade on a transcontinental flight. Use miles to get on Premium select
Who bought the tickets?
I hope so! Tbh even if only my seat got upgraded I would just give it to her so she can sleep on the overnight flight; trying to avoid her jet lagging lol
“Complimentary Upgrades are not permitted to Delta Premium Select or Delta One® flights outside of the U.S. 50.”
https://www.delta.com/us/en/skymiles/medallion-program/medallion-upgrades
That’s fair, not even worth the hassle at that point. I agree thank you!
You’re not getting upgraded on this flight lol there’s tons of paying customers on us/ Europe business routes
Only official way to get upgraded to D1 or PS on a long-haul international itinerary is if Main Cabin is oversold (or other IrrOps) and they move people to higher cabins to make room. Not sure there is a policy around it, but they probably prioritize higher status or higher fare class (I.e. you paid more for the ticket).
Complimentary upgrades on long-haul international are only to Comfort+; mostly about the pre-boarding and some flimsy amenity kit, not much of an upgrade.
For D1 or PS you need to spring some miles or $$$
Fair point. Additional legroom is good, but true value add on long haul is recline imo, and C+ has same recline as Main Cabin.
If you want legroom, I suggest just picking a MC exit row seat.
Seat size (assume you mean width) and all other seat features are the same as MC. On domestic flights you’ll sometimes find PS seats sold as C+ but I’ve never seen that on international.
Check what they'll sell you an upgrade for on Delta. Sometimes it's better buying it through their upgrade options than buying it outright.
Are you also set on Delta and/or still within a refundable window?
In two weeks I'm heading to Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos. I bought my C fare on Turkish to Athens for $1809 this Spring.
