EY1 is a troll
Are you serious EY1?
Way low... 350k-500k in total comp
You went low on comp. I was going to suggest jeans and button down, but given it feels like you’re a noob, I’d suggest khakis to help reinforce the naïveté
Please interview like this
Depends on where you live? I would have asked for a higher bonus. Wear casual smart with specks of color. Be yourself.
You’re fine. And go business casual, can always audible and take your coat off
Should say it’s low for a senior at fb. Go with business casual, and good luck!
For interview what to wear?Suit or business casuals?
EY1 really? Glassdoor says range is 130-140K base
EY1 was too high, but 200 is low for a senior software dev. Should’ve gone for 250-350
Which group in FB and what SE role?
Group is FB infra, Thanks for the suggestions, I will communicate enhanced expectations in the formal round.
Which city? Sf? Compare your comp in new city.tools available online. 250 should be good .
EY1 has no idea what he/she is talking about. But 200k is low. A good salary would be around $175k and RSU about $200k-300k vesting over four years. Source: SO and bunch of friends are in tech. Aim for total comp of about $250k
EY1’s number are a bit high but not that crazy. Depends which level they bring you in. 160-190 base is reasonable. Cash bonus: ~15%. Initial RSU grant: probably 250-350ish vesting over 4 years. You may also be able to get a signing bonus: 30-50. Ideally you’d want to get a competing offer. Cash component of compensation is doesn’t offer much room for negotiations, but the RSU range is pretty wide. It’s not impossible to get an initial grant of 500-600k. 300+ total comp should be very achievable
On another app, I saw someone get the following offer at Facebook (level 5):
Base: 185, target cash bonus: 15%, RSUs: 600 (vesting offer 4 years), signing bonus: 50
With signing bonus, first year compensation has the potential to exceed 400. At that level, getting an additional 100-150 in RSUs each year is typical (vesting over 4 years). I’ll let you do the math, but if you stay for 4-5 years there is definitely good potential to accumulate $ (assuming the stock price remains stable)
