If the last few weeks have shown anything it’s that EY doesn’t really care about anyone below SM. The rest of us are expendable. I would expect nothing less
^SM1, it's now ridiculous that you are talking about not investing 10k-15k to appeal for h1b ppl, why didn't you clarify that before campus interview/career fair? People wouldn't bother joining EY at all. You hired ppl in and you abandon them, that is irresponsible.
What a culture
Ey1 - perhaps you should read some of the threads about how ey helping one of their seniors and then change their tune. Re the op - I was on visas for 4 years now green card and in all those times any official correspondence comes directly from uscis nor from Egan. Approval notices, infor requests, updates - all came to me and then I had to send to Egan. So not really following that visa would not be renewed and you would not hear from uscis yourself. Indeed - can you not use your application number and get status there yourself? On the appeal - I mean as someone who obviously was supported for years that is disappointing - but... it's not ey that is significantly cutting numbers of visas available and making it more difficult - from a business perspective why would they invest another 10-15k in your appeal and visa instead of hiring local (that's what all you trump voters wanted anyway)
OP. I had to have this conversation with one of my seniors recently - it's not a good conversation to have. Thankfully she is European so is just as happy (or not just as happy but fine with it) to have us facilitate a transfer to a large European office. But again I'm not sure you can put the blame on ey as they are not the ones that cut the numbers and have started making claims so difficult. Did you just finish a year on opt? Or are you finishing your first h1b? If you have 3 years I'd imagine there must be some partner or leader you can talk to who might be able to push Egan - but unfortunate I'm thinking there might just be a blanket 'no appeals' because of low chance of success. Where are you from? Why not try another ey office in Europe/Australia or something?
OP - yes I've worked on east coast west coast and Europe. And currently live 3000 miles from my family. I mean you are starting to make me sound like an asshole but I went through multiple visa renewals with Egan and they always sent me documents to review. Or maybe that's because I asked. Never found mistakes - but Italian guy in my office did. So maybe your colleagues should have reviewed their forms prior to submission. Trust but verify. I generally have sympathy for people in your position (as noted had senior in same boat) - but you are making it very easy to make people not care. Every time you leave the us on a visa you are allowed back in at discretion of border official and given recent discussion you had to know that these were not automatic - so time to start planning next steps! Good luck!
Wow, refuse to appeal is too much. The main reason they say they cant disclose denial reason is because they represent company, not us, employees, but they should be able to appeal. :|
SM1, I don't know if you ever relocated, but have you thought about what relocation meant to ppl? Relocation can ruin a relationship, create distance and raise costs for ppl to visit families, ppl's life is totally changed because of relocation! Can't believe you said that so easily. 2 of my friends got denied in H1B cuz EY law filed them for the wrong title, who should I blame this to then?
Can all employees who got rejected file a class action lawsuit against Egan?
CANADA CANADA CANADA! Why does it have to be the U.S.? I bet you could become a Canadian citizen right now. Why not consider this?
^pwc1, I really want to go to Canada now. This whole working visa stuff makes me exhausted.

What nationality are you op?
OP, what was your RFE?
OP one mistake in your post. SMs are expendable.
SM1 your experience is very different from my experience. Egan has never sent me any documents to review prior to sending them to USCIS. All I got are scanned copies after they sent the paperwork. And I have been extremely proactive and asking them if I can help them out with anything. I don’t think OP’s situation is anything related to reduced number of visas. OP was selected but it was Egan’s and EY’s faults that an RFE was issues and ultimately OP’s visa application was rejected.
It is really shameful. Lost a great staff because EY filed H1B incorrectly. Woops.
I'm very surprised to hear that. As I mentioned above there was one guy from Italy in my office who spotted an error in filings - but thankfully he got it figured out. But via our omp it was made very clear to visa consultant and I assume to Egan the nature of the mistake. I guess if Egan is as bad as portrayed on here - why would ey still work with them - doesn't make sense. Very unfortunate - but still not sure you can make comments like 'what a culture' because of things like this.
SM1. You are a senior manager and you don’t lnow Egan is EY? Egan is the law firm of EY. Therefore Egan represents EY
