My final round with Deloitte for UK Tech Consulting Manager position soon. Strangely it’s not a PMD round as it usually is for other Big4/tech consulting firms.
1. Can anyone tell me if they’ve been through the whole process without speaking to PMD? (First round Sr Manager, second Case Interview by a manager and third again by a manager) 2. What is a typical salary to expect? I was asked in screening but kept it vague (e.g can discuss later bla bla). I was hoping 75-80 (ridiculous?)

I was at M7, they interview you based on how well they like you and how many butts you kiss during on campus recruiting events. It’s a pretty cringey process tbh. They don’t ever see your grades no one cares about that.

That’s so weird. I think I’ll continue in Tech. Google pays better, doesn’t have a fake heir of pretentiousness, nor the 70 hour work weeks that accompany it.
You being at M7 is an automatic first filter for your ability to do the job…you don’t need to learn new things in business school, you just need to have a fundamental understanding of how business works, and be able to communicate and structure thoughts effectively- which we test during the interviews.
Interview invites are usually sent out on the basis of how client-ready you come across as during networking events, how much background research you’ve done on the firm before talking to consultants, how personable you are in conversations, etc. You can call it “butt kissing”, but being personable is an essential part of client services, which we test for during networking events.
+GMAT score and any MBA scholarships. High gmat and full scholarships are earmarked by MBB
wow thanks for the info. I also assumed that gmat would be one number that can be added because there really isn't anything new info yet but knowing about scholarships is also helpful.
SC1, when at Bschool, my aversion to networking was similar to yours. Years later I understand that networking is a key skill for this business. Outwardly, it helps client management, business development, etc. Inward facing networking is key to building allies across the firm- especially globally.
My advice is to always be authentic and think about how you can help the other person in front of you. You can network without being inauthentic.
Grades don’t matter in business school.
