For those who switch from tax to audit or from audit to tax. Did you have to go all the way back to entry level salary?

Just go to a smaller firm for a year or 2. You’ll be doing both audit and tax, then switch back to a larger firm if you want and you won’t lose any years in your progression

like

By smalls firm, what size range should we be looking at?

You usually don’t but if you switch into audit you may not get raises for a year or 2. But it really depends on how high up you get. If you’re a tax manager and switch into audit you may take a hit because you can’t really go above a 1st level senior salary even though your skill set is somewhat of an experienced associate.

I know someone who did audit to tax (from senior auditor to tax associate). He got paid more as a tax associate.

Hello everyone!
I recently found out that I was being paid less than everyone in the team (more than 25% gap to more expe teammates, around 15% less than new hires)
We all had the same responsibilities, I consider I even had a heavier workload (talking in past tense since I very recently made an internal move).
Things to consider:
On a work visa
Non-white
Non-male
What would you recommend doing?
Keeping it to myself?
Speaking up? How? With who?

-TIA

Hi guys, I got an offer from x and i discussed that with my current. At 1st current said they can only give 30% increment. I said I can't stay with this cause i got 70% and expect at least 50%(as the 70% included VP and the current org don't have vp, they have bonus). Then they said they can do max 45%. I really wanted to stay here so I said okay to current. Then now hr called me and said they are matching the offer(no vp). What should I make out of it? What made them change their mind?

Just accepted an offer with a psych startup. Not exactly the offer I was hoping for as I’m taking a slight pay cut ($73/hr) and it’s a 1099 position. I keep getting stuck on the 1099 piece because I’ll be working 40 hrs/wk, but have been told I’m not eligible to be a W2 employee. Needless to say, no benefits whatsoever. They don’t even provide a computer or any other remote equipment for the completely remote position. Am I making a mistake? Also, can anyone chime in about being a 1099 employee?
