Me! I had epidural during delivery so it was actually not as painful as I expected. Recovery and afterpain was awful though. I was given oxycodone which helped a lot.
This was my experience as well.
I wanted a fully medicated birth (c section) but due to speed to labor I had nothing but gas and air!! It was unbelievably painful but- for me it was fast and no major lasting issues (I was up and walking 1h after it). I would 100% get the epidural next time but even without it you just do it and it’s not fun, but then it’s over!
I fell asleep about 20 minutes after getting my epidural and they woke me up to start pushing so delivery was much better than expected-if your epidural isn’t working great, let them know because there are often adjustments they can make.
Recovery was rough due to a 3.5 grade tear and having to fight the residents to stay on pain pills longer. Felt like I was being accused of being drug seeking and they misdiagnosed/missed a hematoma under my stiches that caused an infection. The attending prescribed all the pain pills once it was finally diagnosed. 🙄
I got my epidural with both kids before labor started since I was induced. Best best experience and I had no side effects post pushing. I was able to walk by the time I got to my post partum room. I had minor first degree tears with both children. Pushing was my biggest worry with my first one so for me it was such a relief to have a beautiful experience.
I was induced. The Pitocin makes the contractions more painful than normal. It was unbearable until I had the epidural.
