Currently 1099 and it’s a dream! Have to reserve funds for taxes, but nice to get the full amount deposited into my account
Yes you can absolutely write things off as a W2 freelancer. You’ll have to file as self-employed but it’s possible. I’ve been doing it for years.
Not risky at all. Lots of people work multiple jobs. I’ve done it as a W2 freelancer and also as a FTE when I had independent clients on the side. You can write off pretty much all of the same things as long as you legitimately used it for work. It helps a lot if you’re WFH and using your own equipment. If you don’t have a lot of expenses it may not be worth the extra tax tbh. Feel free to DM me and I can go into detail about it!
I’m currently a W2. I don’t mind it but only because one of my clients has a reasonable amount of work so I don’t have nearly as much down time. I lose that gig and it gets a little rockier.
1099 and S-corp only! And this is with WPP, IPG, and Stagwell agencies.
Ask your accountant. Tight arse.
Only ever been 1099, W2 has never been an option.
