I was interviewed at EY UK on 7th Sep. It was quite smooth. Since then I haven't heard anything back from them though interviewer claimed SLA to get back with outcome of interview is 48 hours. On portal it still says I'm in hiring team phase. It was level 1 interview.
Should I take this delay as rejection?

Ha! I thought I was the only one noticing this. Isn’t the entire point of freelance to allow both parties to exit the arrangement easily if it’s not a fit? Why are you interviewing me as if I’m applying to be CEO? Especially when the agency reached out first. I never sent you a resume.
Once I got a year long gig at a well known agency to develop the creative platform of a brand, and nobody saw my book during the process. I was recommended by someone the Cd knew and interviewed, but my book was never seen. Also, they thought I was a writer the whole time, and I had always worked as AD. But like they say, fake it till you make it. They loved my work and kept calling me back. 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t think I’ve shown anyone my book in 3 years. Which is good, because nothing I’ve done in the last 3 years have been bookworthy🙃
Do you think this is caused by many people wanting to be and do creative? As a result, an oversaturated market.
Too many IG CD’s out there. You gotta filter those that got the title without the putting in the work.
One can spot phonies in under five minutes if the right questions are asked on a call. Just ask them what a concept is.
Interviewing in general is a goddamn marathon. It took 3 months to land the current full time gig I’m in.
This is a world-wide phenomenon of the flattening of the org chart. Everyone gets to be a decision maker!
Relatively new to freelancing but I’ve been stunned at the range: some jobs offered in an initial call, others requiring multiple visits for what winds up being a two day job, thus totally not worth the initial time.
Last fall I submitted a $56k bid to a client I’d never met. They signed and returned the deal memo in 45 minutes. Today I was told by a prospect that they were triple bidding my $1400 ask for a one day video shoot.
Spot on. It's incredible I am a strategist, and the amount of people they require you to meet for a short term contract is unbelievable! The whole process is broken, I don't understand why you need to have to do X3-4 in person interviews broken in 30 min meetings and repeat the same exact thing you just said to the last person. Sometimes it feels like you are on trial and they are there to grill you and find any hole in your story/work experience to prove you are full of shit or not the right person for the job. These judgemental poker face convos is beyond demoralizing. There needs to be a better way.. Wtf happened.
so much this. also way more requests for spec work or custom presentations - and yet not even so much as a thank you when they pass you over.
It is a marathon and I’m running out of energy.
Any complicit ECDs or CDs want to enlighten us on why you do this with experienced freelancers (ie, not juniors)? I know for a fact you do this to people who’ve worked at Wieden and BBDO for crying out loud. We’re all ears.
I once got a job just by interviewing with my prospective creative partner. I didn’t meet my actual boss till after I’d already been working there full time for two weeks. I hope I never have to go through rounds and rounds of interviews like everyone does now, ugh how demoralizing it seems
It is. Feel like i’m selling myself putting on some kinda show, and im an introvert af. One place asked for a presentation of work in a boardroom
