I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? LEK life sciences is very good but the hours are absolutely brutal. Culture / experience for the LSS role in particular is especially tough. I have never heard good things from my LSS friends.
LEK’s focus is similar to Navigant (without the PMO), with the bulk of strat work focused on small to midsize pharma. A ton of DD work for PE firms too, which matches what the broader firm does.
Personally, I’d recommend your friend take the LEK job, fully expecting the job to have worse culture / experience than Navigant. I’d do it mainly for the brand on the resume, which will open up more doors than Navigant LS (which is decent).
Hope this helps. Lmk if you have more Qs.
definitely feel a trend of increasing CI/DD projects from big Pharma and those projects are killerssss
Do they have a PhD? Life Science Specialist (LSS) is not an entry-level role and will be given a significant amount of responsibility and exposure
Yes, they do.
More info: his project mix at Navigant is 70% strat/DD at the business unit level, ~30% PMO. Sponsorship generally at the Dir-Sr Dir level, sometimes VP. How would this compare with LEK?
60% strat and 40% DD. Mostly C suite for biotechs, diagnostics, research tools clients. Mix of business unit and c suite for large biopharma. Happy to chat with your friend if helpful.
