Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

I have a offer from Perficient and joining in 2 months time. Question :
1: how is the company in terms of job security and projects? I work with web analytics
2: How is the hike and work life balance.
3: Attrition rate
4: Hike is good but will it be a safer vet like Accenture Operations?
Need some views from people working there.
Thanks in advance.

Rising Star
I no longer have to kiss ass at the office and my career success is judged based solely on my work. I feel like it has actually sped up my growth and career development.
Yeah, any CEO who says crap like that is broadcasting that networking, ass kissing and sucking up to leaders in the office with "influence" is how to get ahead in their particular culture. Eff that. Plenty of other orgs are getting the fact that people want their work, contributions and value measured, not their ability to suck up.
Sounds like more scare tactics from someone who has an expensive office lease they can’t get out of.
Bump
That’s funny, I got promoted and doubled my salary since we went remote in 2020
I had to work my ass off to get that. I had no raise for years prior. But my point is, my career growth has been largely since WFH
I've had the opposite experience. I'm black, I can hide my identity when needed by going off camera, coincidentally over 2020 - 2022 I've sold more work than any other point in my career.
Sucks that this is the reality, but people need to recognize in person only really benefits you if people don't freak out the moment you enter a room--anyone in an outgroup is just signing up to play petty politics.
The FCB beer team doesn't let you present copy if you have accents. But they let you drink a lot
I have done much better in my career since being remote. In the office, it was never about what was getting done. It was about sucking up, small talk, etc. My personality and brain wiring doesn’t allow me to play those games. When we went remote and the main thing you’re judged on is your work, I started pulling above my peers who were seen as stars before. The office is a big charade.
Then what have we all been doing the past 3 years? I’ve made work I’m proud of, have had more interactions with my CDs and CCOs than when we were in office and they were in meetings constantly, and have built a life outside of advertising.
It’s pretty simple. If we keep working for people who think that our location is tied to our worth, they continue to have a business and make money.
If we don’t—it stops. They have no talent because everyone went somewhere where they could be themselves and get some time back in their day. And in some cases, a lot of time that never would have been had before.
I get this is a gray area—I get there are some people who loveeee in person collaboration. But why should those people ALSO determine what works for you? It’s bullshit. And this article is a fear tactic.
I would also like to ask this person: do you pay your bills online or at the bank? How would you like it if the bank didn’t accept your money because you didn’t pay it in person? Well then you’ll probably get a new bank, won’t you?
Good luck ✌🏼 if you need me, I’ll be busy building my career wherever the hell I want
"Some people will never see the value of three to five days in the office, but if creatives don’t see the value in it, I wonder what value they find in the business? What do you love about it, if it is not mentorship, collaboration and camaraderie?”
I love that the paycheck agreed upon shows up in my account twice a month, personally. My co workers are not my friends, and my job is not my life. This is transactional and nothing more. As a supposed businessman, you should be familiar with that kind of relationship. This notion that you're job defines you needs to die... especially when it's defined by an industry as vapid and hollow as this one.
This.
I’m a little like SF1. I’m an old guy and being remote removes that stigma.
Yeah me too! Since remote work, I'm feeling way more confident about staying employed way into my 40s or even mid 50s.
Passive voice is doing a lot here. The honest thing for this CEO to say is “I won’t allow you to build your career over Zoom.”
I won 9 lions and got a huge promotion. On zoom.
I feel like the industry stagnated my career is fine
Since working remotely, I’ve worked with talented people from all over the world. Before that, I worked with a much smaller talent pool in my mid-sized city. I’ve learned and grown so much in these past couple years and I’ve gotten promoted, gotten a better job, and make quite a bit more money than I did pre Covid. So it’s working out just fine for me.

“You can’t build a career on Zoom,” says out of touch CEO of failing agency
I'm not going into an office (an hour wasted commuting) just to sit for 8 hours a day on Teams calls..which is what I would wind up doing. Get f'ing with it and stop wasting our time. Its not our fault you made bad real estate decision
Not at all. If you do your job well, go above and beyond, build a good relationship with your boss and coworkers, you can thrive. It might help if you can travel to the office at least once or twice a year to meet people in person but not completely necessary. But I think it might also depend on the department. Easier to do for jobs that don’t require face to face like Account people with clients, etc.
I do recommend being on camera most of the time, though, so people can see you’re a real person.
I get so much more done not going into the office. I’ve been promoted and given an additional raise after that.
My rate has tripled since I’ve worked from home, sooooo
Thanks y’all. When I read articles like this, I question if I made the right choice. But you all have made feel a hell of a lot better about my decision to go remote and move somewhere that was better for my life and family. ❤️
I started my career as an associate in 2020 @ 53k.
I’ve made my way into a senior PM role @ 130k
This is a scare tactic.
