Who makes fun of it? As long as you are happy and doing your job well, then that's good. However if you are working extra hours and not getting paid for it, that's what people frown upon.
Fully agree

PwC3: let me introduce myself….
I have a good book of clients, decent hours, and the levels above me do my job, just more of it. I’m good with my pay and get commission on business I bring in. I’m fine where I’m at.

I care but not as much as my coworkers who, before pausing for dinner, tell their manager to text if there's an emergency. It's accounting, there are no emergencies.
Yes this is excessive I agree, there's a difference between caring and the example you gave - as you noted
Remember to thank your people, even if you are also overwhelmed and overworked.
I like my job, I like the people I work with, and I'm really great at dealing with tricky terrible clients. My biggest complaint is that I have too much of it. Rather than getting a thanks (or money and gifts), I'm being "rewarded" by getting more work, teams, and difficult clients because I'm great at what I do.
OP great post, you’ll have to work to continue to have that mindset because as you can see a lot of people aren’t going to understand your drive.

Congrats on your first job out of school. Wait a few years and rethink this.
