Going through our first house purchase and I’ve felt nauseous the entire time. Is this normal?

Currently 31 with 6.5 YOE and single . Should have NW of 250k by end of this year. (No significant assets in India). Considering this money all reminds invested I should have a decent nest egg for retirement. Have an LIC policy that will be worth arnd 50 lakhs when I surrender it (plan down payment for an apartment). Struggling to convince parents this should be enough for me to move back. They think I should move back when I have more financial security. What more should I plan for ?

Question for folks with second homes: Considering buying a vacation home but would be primarily for family use. We currently have a primary residence with a mortgage balance of ~640K, so my understanding is I could only deduct the mortgage interest on 110K of the second mortgage to stay under the 750K cap. If I were to buy the second home through an LLC, would that allow me to exceed that 750K since the expenses of the second home would be pass through expenses/income?

Our appraisal came through exactly as the offer price we put. Apparently by lenders 3rd party. Isnt that a bit fishy? If it came in lower our contract has the option to negotiate a bit with seller. Is lender just trying to push this along faster? I'm pretty sure in this crazy market the home is not valued at what we offered. Why would seller put a much lower asking price then? Make no sense. I'm under contract for a new build in progress that won't be done until much later this year. I fully expect interest rates will be higher than what I originally estimated. I may or may not try to lock in a good rate early, but I'm planning on renting it out and this throws a bit if a wrench in my margins. From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

Happy Holidays fishes!! I would love to hear some thoughts here..We bought our first home last year for 316K ( starter home) in MCOL city. The value is now over 400K and I have an equity of over 150K. We are thinking of moving to a different state.Should we rent this place ($2400/month) and with recent refinance my mortgage will be $1600/month(inclu pay all) or sell it to pull out equity for the new home in a different state? FYI: we have over 100K in cash to down payment.

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway. Any advice on what you might do in my position? Am I being crazy with this idea?

Would you pay an extra ~$100/month on top of existing monthly PITI for access to $65k in equity from your home? Want to use it for either A) down payment on new primary or B) net new investment property and see if that can fund the next primary

How might I start to evaluate whether or not it’s worth it to keep my current primary residence and turn it into a rental, instead of selling and using the cash to roll into the next down payment for our next home? Currently in our “starter home” and thinking to upgrade in a few years. Some figures to consider for current house - 299k purchase price, 240k left on mortgage, could prob rent for 2250-2500/month, or sell for 375k. It’s in a desired school district, but in the “city” tax district.
