Also, check online to find out which was more recently renovated. Some resorts in Cancun haven’t been renovated in a while, even luxury ones
Good idea! Thank you!
Do you have status? We stayed at JW - it was great, pool amazing. Free breakfast. RC does not give people with status free breakfast. Small thing, but annoying.
How is the JW food ? Price and Quality?
Go to cabo instead. So damn humid in Cancun!
To be more helpful to your question then - I’ve never stayed at a JW I didn’t like, and never stayed at a Ritz I didn’t like.
Ritz is top tier. JW is right below it. It all comes down to the price point, which only you can decide. You’re comparing 2 Marriotts.
I’d spend a couple hundred more on the Ritz, but not an extensive amount more personally

The Ritz is quite dated for its standard rooms, though the service is great. I haven’t stayed at the JW so can’t compare.
Edit: I was there in 2018

^this. I was there in 2021. I’ve heard others with kids say great things about JW.

In case you’re open to other suggestions, Marriott bought the Royalton chain of all inclusives. I stayed at one that quite nice and affordable, but it was adults only. I believe there is a family resort as well.
I actually was looking into that property as well but only found the Adults only one that would let me redeem points
