Working at a boutique transactiona firm. First year did not receive much guidance and made a few errors, one of which could have been a deal but ended up being fine but overall I worked hard, billed hours above target and showed a willingness to learn. Three main partners in the group. I feel like I may have been written off by the one partner, still get a fair amount of work from another and the third has never really given work but has a rep for doing things alone or using seniors. I’m pretty torn on whether I want to take an offer for an internal role or not…
The job itself sounds pretty interesting. Lots of opportunity for growth (eventually will build out a team).

My only concern is the hiring manager. I talked to someone in my network who has worked with him in the past and she told me that she would 100% work with him again bc she learned a lot, but that he has a very dominant personality and that some ppl can butt heads with him.

A director in another unit wants to meet me to “continue a conversation we started last year”. He is referring to the time I had asked him if there were openings on his team. That was over a year ago. I am not too happy where I am right now ( I stayed where I was). I also don’t know if he really has an opportunity or if this is just some corporate circle jerk where my current director is trying to “smoke me out”. I don’t speak poorly of my team/work.
