Amazes me how tax/audit is paid so poorly when those kids probably smarter than half the consultants
Yea assurance folks work twice as hard for half the pay compared to consultants. Feels rough
AP? Not sure what that means but depending on startup brand it seems like a no brained, $25k makes a massive difference esp when you start out...
AP is a pretty limited career path without much upside
Can you pivot to another type of role in start up? Or at least spin it to find another start up role externally?
Yes, per my convos with the manager, there is definitely room for growth within the company
Is 50k a bit low for entry assurance? Can you ask for 60?
As someone who is no longer at PwC and is now a controller, AP has very very limited runway. I hire 45 yo AP clerks and 24 year old staff accountants, that’s just how the cards fall. If you do want good exit opps in accounting/finance, please just tough out the B4 job for a few years.
I’d go for whatever has the better exit opportunities if you don’t plan on doing either long term. Assurance staff don’t make much but I’m sure you can leave after 1.5/2 years of good experience and make a good jump. $75k is good for AP especially if their wlb is good, but not much room for growth and your best exit op would be another AP role unless they let you learn other areas of finance operations
Dm me if you are interested in other b4 finance roles that should pay better. Lmk your location, I am hiring.
