You know you’re a tax accountant if.....
What is ghost ticking
New to Fishbowl?

No don’t take it, there are plenty of accounting firms out there. Especially with CPA you’ll be fine! Are you in grad school right now? Is your school helping with recruiting? You can find a better firm with much better benefits
If the offer isn't something you want pass the CPA and try again after you pass. Don't worry about 10 grand unless you desperately need the money. Focus more on where u want your career to be and what you need to do to get there.
I was in your exact situation when I started. I had a masters in accounting and studying for the cpa. I got no good job offers the first 10 months after graduating. My first good job offer was from a small firm the day I passed the final section of the cpa.
That’s a yuuge pay cut ($10k + insurance). This is a hot job market for CPAs, so not worth it imo
What’s the question?
Hmmm perhaps try getting an offer from another firm? What firm did you get an offer from? Don’t know if many accounting firms in Brooklyn
Perhaps you can move into an accounting role at your current employer? Lateral move with same benefits? Property accountants at manager level make good money.
Understand that starting salary in accounting is ~ $60-65k so if you’re looking for significantly more than that it may not happen
I am simply looking for about 50k but no one will hire me because I dont have actual accounting experience 😤
I got my Masters in October 2018. I have been applying as much as I can to accounting firms, but nothing has stuck.
I am very fristrated with the job search. I have been on many interviews with no offers. I have Masters degree already.
Having lived in Bergen county, I would never have accepted a job in Brooklyn. Commute would kill me
Also live in bergen county and a commute to brooklyn would be awful. Manhattan would be a better commute than that or just staying in state. My firm is in bergen county and there are other options in jersey to apply to
Take it.
Should i take it? My current job pays $10k more and offers health insurance. This doesnt offer insurance.
Omg, no no and no! Don’t take it - you are taking a pay cut for a place that’s super far (I know cause I live in the area too), without health insurance. Don’t waste your time even considering it. Wait and you will find something better.
Its a really small firm.
Thank you
How much is the pay?
And I have only been at my current employer for almost 4 months so a promotion is not probable.
Lmk if you want an EY referral
Try mid sized or other firms more nearby Fair lawn nj, right in bergen County, has krs (I think?) at the least.
Any referrals much appreciated!!
I would suggest living and loving in the same place first.
