Got an offer from Accenture. It’s both a promotion and a 55% raise. Seems like a no brainer to accept it. What are the other things that should be considered before accepting?

Consider the Travel Aspect very strongly. Are you OK with being away from home/friends/gf/bf/family for the majority of the week, almost every week? That alone could be a huge sacrifice depending on you personally, which may not make the big pay bump worth it.

Depends on the role but I’ve worked at both and kpmg back in the day really treated analysts like cannon fodder , first sign of a downturn they fired 20 out of 25 of us in our start group . I survived but the place never felt the same after . It was a while ago to be fair . But hands down Accenture has a stronger culture and seems more willing to ride out a downturn and retain the talent .

Preemptive weird flex 💪 but ok

It’s a horrible company to work for.. They offer huge pay rises to make up for the awful culture. I’d be careful, exact same thing happened to me.

They’re a public company - the implications around that fact are worth considering. Big one is bonus but if your salary is 55% over, that shouldn’t matter.

like

55% raise is hard to say no to. Only comment is that accenture seems to have a thin tolerance for bench time (which can,be an,issue if your new) and that they seem to do a lot of staff augmentation projects.

It depends on what practice. I spent 4 months on the bench before 😎

Lol we have people in our practice, a lot of people, who left Accenture because of strong dislike of work and culture and joined KPMG as such. And those people make 20-50k more here at KPMG than those who grew up in our practice KPMG internally or came from like industry. So you have people in the same role, same job, same firm, similar qualifications with a huge difference in pay because they were paid so high (aka market standard) at Accenture

Between KPMG and Accenture, Accenture is a no-brainer. I would seek to find out more about your role before commenting on your move.

It’s not a no brainer. I moved the other way. Working at a private consulting company is way better. Bonus is better. And environment and culture WAY better. Unless you’re heavy in tech I’d recommend Kpmg over Accenture

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
