I work in field sales as an IC. My aspirational career path is to end up in people leadership. Recently, an Inside management position opened up that’s been brought to my attention by the hiring director. Question is, is going back Inside the right move to get into started in leadership? Or should I continue down the field path and wait until those field management slots open up?

With everyone seeming to be “hiring” I’ve had job interviews with various firms: EY, Plante Moran, Doren Mayhew, Rehmann, to name a few..

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have been working remotely since covid getting nothing but positive reviews. My company is not remote friendly and is now telling me I have to return to the office or I lose my job. I just found out a co-worker had a remote position created for them, without a job posting, without an interview and without the experience required (normally a license or certification would be mandatory). Need advice and pep talk because I’m certain I have chronic imposter syndrome :( Background on me, I have about 6 years of work experience post college but have gone through many companies because of layoffs and/or reorgs. There is very little that makes me cringe as much as hearing the word “networking”. Why do we still label events with this word? I would be much more likely to show up to virtual happy hours or virtual game nights than a virtual networking event.

Before entering the corporate world I was in the restaurant industry for many years and was on a computer maybe 10% of the time.
