Don’t go cheap on that
Buy a good one which lasts long
I got a britax and a car seat as gift and lasted till my kid was 6 yrs old
Whichever one you go with think about a couple of things 1. Get one that’s part of a system, meaning the carrier clicks into the stroller and a base thats stationary. 2. If you are thinking about having a 2nd child soon after look for the things I mentioned in 1 and a stroller that accommodates 2 kids
Don’t go cheap on the stroller
We love our babyjogger city select because it easily converts to an amazing two seater when number two comes around. Can often find deals where second seat is free
Uppababy- good but not cheap. Very durable and high quality
Infant car seat + stroller frame for the win (at least, for the first couple of months). Snap seat in and out of the car base, and into the stroller frame when needed. Graco Snugride + stroller frame is one example. As kiddie gets older, gradually move to a decent, lightweight umbrella stroller - especially one that has a full recline for napping. MacLaren if you want a premium brand to show off, Inglesina if you want to spend elsewhere. Beware the tradeoffs. The heavier the stroller, the more features it'll have, and the more you'll hate lugging the damn thing everywhere.
Go cheap on everything baby related except the stroller and car seat. Used a spot bonus to buy a Bugboo Bee and worth every penny. The thing was so much more enjoyable to use than the cheap ones. Not sure I would survived multiple trips to Disney World and Disneyland without it. Son too old now but the stroller in great condition. Looking to sell it (including travel luggage for it) if anyone interested buying it.
When you are at the hospital they will bring you a cart full of supplies...clean that shit out each time.
Early congrats! My advice is don’t go cheap on the carrier. Get something nice and safe. We didn’t really use a stroller that much with my son as an infant so I’d would venture to say wait and see if you really need it. They outgrow infant strollers fast so if you buy now be sure it’s a convertible stroller.
If you live in a city or plan to travel a lot with baby in the first year: Doona. Not as your primary, but definitely as your secondary. It is essentially a car seat with flip-out wheels. It’s easy to fix into a taxi, doesn’t leave you with a second apparatus, and it’s FAA compliant which means you can wheel baby right into the plane and strap him/her in to their seat easily.
For your primary, ask your friends with kids if they would lend you theirs for a while. The best way to figure out what drives you insane is to use one for a bit.
We had a double BOB and loved it. Now we have a single BOB. and we love it. We had an inglesina. It was good- folded with one hand! But I’m a BOB fan since you can push and maneuver it anywhere!
If you actually walk places with it (school, commute, not the mall), don't skimp. Britax, Uppa, CitySelect. Get a double now if you want more.
First 6 months ... Chicco KeyFit + Caddy + Jogging Stroller. It’s amazing (especially for airplane travel). After that - every option will require you to be a nonstop Ironman
Citimini babyjogger, anything else is overspending
^ sold our Bee on craigslist :)
Get one with the infant carrier that snaps in that also has a base for the car and you are set. You can get one for less than $200 if you’re looking to go cheap and they will work fine.
Mamas & Papas is a great brand. I paid $400 for stroller +car seat and after 6 months of snow, sand and flying back and forth btw Europe and US is is still in perfect conditions.
Just did loads of research on this, for the money the Chico Bravo was great! Best / safest car seat out there (it’s part of the stroller package). Plus when we set up our baby registry on buy buy baby - they gave us 20% off one item which we used for the stroller to get the cost down further.
This. You’ll be like “but I don’t need 8 more Size 1 diapers.
You do. You will go through that in less than 1 day. Every day.
If you are in the city get something with storage on the bottom so you can use it to put your beer in. Yeah don’t go cheap.
